GSI Telehealth

How many times have you heard it said that the internet has transformed modern life? Indeed, it’s probably changed how you purchase goods and services, receive entertainment, order food, book transportation and stay in touch with family and friends.

Undoubtedly, you have also searched for information about health issues. There are now a variety of telehealth tools available to help you manage your healthcare and receive the services you need. Telehealth is simply the use of digital information and communication technologies, such as computers and mobile devices, to access services remotely and manage your healthcare.

GSI Telehealth: pMD

GSI is pleased to launch telehealth services via the pMD platform. We are now offering electronic, face-to-face visits conducted over your smartphone or tablet with our providers. For those who use FaceTime, it is quite similar. The only difference is that we are using a HIPAA-secure application (app) called pMD.

How to set up a GSI Telehealth appointment

It’s easy! Just contact us as you normally would. Give us a call at 804.285.8206 and let us know you would like to schedule a telehealth appointment. We will be pleased to set one up that will work with your schedule. Our staff will also update your medical history, current medications, demographics, and insurance information.

Download the pMD app and helpful documentation

Before you can have your telehealth appointment with your GSI provider, you must have the pMD app installed on your mobile device. The app can be downloaded for free by clicking here for iOS devices and here for Android devices.

Once you have downloaded the pMD app, you will need simple instructions for setting up the app and making sure it is ready for your appointment. To access this document, please click here.  In your mobile device’s Settings, you will need to configure it so that your Notifications are turned “on,” and that your Camera and Microphone are both “enabled.”

Your GSI Telehealth Appointment

On the day of your appointment, prior to the appointment, you will receive a call from our team to virtually “check you in” and go over any final questions.

At the time of your appointment, your provider will call you using pMD. Once you answer the call, which you must do within the pMD app, you will be connected with your provider.

Following the telehealth visit, your provider will document your care in our electronic health record system and will ensure that follow-up care – prescriptions, procedures, etc. – is completed as soon as possible.

Telehealth visits are a billable service covered by your insurance.  We will bill your insurance just as we normally would for an office visit.
