Dr. Christopher Young is a Richmond, VA native who joined GSI in 2023. He completed his undergraduate studies at Davidson College in Davidson, NC with a Bachelor of Arts in History before moving back to Richmond and completing a Post-Baccalaureate program at Virginia Commonwealth University.
He subsequently completed medical school, residency, and chief residency at VCU. During his residency he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and received the Gold Award for Humanism and Excellence in Teaching. Upon completing his chief residency, Dr. Young and his family moved to Charlottesville where he completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Virginia. He was selected as Chief Fellow by his peers during his final year of fellowship. During his fellowship, he was selected by his peers to receive the Carl L. Berg Most Valuable Player Award, recognizing his dedication to “providing service above and beyond the call of duty and being an all-around team player.”
Dr. Young’s clinical interests include GERD, disorders of gut-brain interaction, chronic liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease, and colon cancer screening.
Dr. Young is thrilled to move back to the Richmond area with his wife and kids and enjoy everything that the Richmond area has to offer. His favorite hobbies include spending time with his family, running, golfing, and exploring new restaurants.
