Ashley L. Foster has been an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner since 2010. She joined GSI in 2015 and works with Drs. Irvin Seeman, Souheil Abou-Assi, Andy Thanjan and Jayant Talreja at the St. Mary’s location, seeing both inpatients and office patients.
Ashley received her initial undergraduate degree from James Madison University and then attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received both a second undergraduate degree in Nursing and her master’s degree in Nursing. Before joining GSI, she worked at VCU Medical Center as an NP in the Cardiac Surgery ICU and prior to graduating with her master’s, she worked as an RN for 5 years in the Surgery Trauma ICU, also at VCU Medical Center. Both positions enabled her to gain valuable experience treating acutely ill patients.
She enjoys teaching and is an adjunct faculty member at VCU School of Nursing and has previously been the Acute Care NP Program’s Concentration Coordinator. She is a regular preceptor of NP students and is an active member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and various other professional organizations.
She is the proud (and busy) mom of boy/girl twins and is enjoying motherhood. She also volunteers as a Paramedic with Tuckahoe Volunteer Rescue Squad where she has been a member for over 15 years. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, VCU Basketball and music, especially attending live concerts of her favorite bands.
